Num ambiente onírico, uma formiga encontra migalhas de bolacha iluminadas por um forte holofote. A cena é real e, apesar de não intencional, foi provocada pelo pintor a comer bolachas no seu jardim.
In a dream like environment an ant finds cookies crumbs under a strong searchligth. This was a real scene and, although not intentionally, it was provoked by the painter eating some cookies in his garden.

This was the first time Aristides Meneses painted, in oil, a pure landscape, without any personage. The title refers to the fact that the original idea included someone who did not show up.

Um conjunto de auto ilusões, que se estende ao próprio título do quadro. O remador rema em terra. A jovem passeia num barco parado. Diogenes esforça-se por iluminar o dia. E o pintor pintou um bote. A capacidade humana para a auto ilusão tem sido um tema muito trabalhado por Aristides Meneses, surgindo muitas vezes ao longo de toda a sua obra.
A group of dellusions that includes the painter. The boatman paddles on dry land. The girl travels in a boat which does not move. Diogenes tries to iluminate dayligth. And the painter painted a small boat. The capacity for human dellusions is a subject that Aristides Meneses likes to work on.

O título deste quadro foi decidido pelo filho do pintor, então com seis anos, quando o viu pela primeira vez, já acabado. Foi aqui que estes personagens começaram a surgir, vindo a reaparecer com alguma frequência nos anos seguintes.
The title of this painting was decided by the artist son, who was six years old at the time, when he saw it for the first time. It was the first time these personages appeared. They would appear more often the following years.

Aristides Meneses contou que viu esta imagem no chão da sua varanda numa manhã do final do Verão de 2003. A folha de figueira secou e encarquilhou, enquanto o quadro foi executado, mas o dinossauro sobreviveu.
Aristides Meneses tells us he saw this image on the floor of his porch at the end summer morning in 2003. The fig tree leaf dried and curled while the paint was finished, but the dinosaur survived.
