A árvore à esquerda, na realidade uma única folha destruída pelo tempo, é um elemento que virá a surgir mais vezes no mundo de Aristides Meneses.
Trata-se de uma folha real, encontrada por ele tal como é apresentada nesta pintura, no chão de uma varanda num dia de Outono. Colocou-a numa pequena base por forma a que a folha ficasse na posição mostrada e assim a teve durante alguns anos, até que a folha se desfez totalmente. Ainda existia em 1984, quando o pintor a utilizou no quadro “Multiplicação da personalidade provocada pelo aparecimento de um peixe encarnado”. Em 2004, vinte anos depois e já há muito desaparecida, foi utilizada em grande formato em “Gabriel logo após a mensagem”.
The tree on the left, in reality just a leaf destroyed by the passage of time, is an element that will appear other times in Aristides Meneses world.
The leaf was a real one, found by the artist as reproduced here on the floor of a porch on an Autumn day. He put it on a pedestal to make it stand like a tree and kept it for several years, until it was totally disintegrated. It still existed in 1984 when the artist painted ”Multiplication of Personality provoked by the appearance of a red fish”. In 2004, twenty years later and long gone, it became the central figure in “Gabriel soon after the message”. |
